Hi everyone,
Thanks for all of the emails and Facebook messages over the weekend. It was very up and down for me with an absolute shocker on Saturday and then a Pole Position on Sunday.
The Kelly Racing cars are very tough sometimes and even the slightest change in setup can make a massive difference. On Satuday we changed something minor on the car and it turned it into an absolute shocker, it was honestly undriveable. I always do my best to get absolutely everything out of the car everytime it's on the track but there was nothing i could no on Saturday. It was awesome to see Todd up there finally. He was stoked when he got out of the car after the race and it was so cool to finally see a smile on his face. He still isn't sure what happened on Sunday, he didn't change anything on the car overnight so it is all a bit strange. I am sure that he will get to the bottom of it.
I still can't believe that we were able to get pole on Sunday. It has been quite a few years since we have been able to do that. We have always tried to develop a fast race car which is not necessarily a fast qualifying car. Qualifying has been something that i have struggled a bit with over the last couple of years so it was a great confidence booster for myself and the team to finally get the car in P1. Even though we didn't have the car to win the race it was a great feeling to know that all of our development work is getting us somewhere. Our cars didn't really suit the soft tyre so we are all looking forward to getting to Darwin to test out the car on the harder rubber.
I am back in the office today catching up on emails and sitting in on a few meetings. We have 4 weeks off from racing now so it will be a good chance to catch up on all of the work that i have been missing due to the tight race calendar.
Hope you guys like my new site. I will be making some more changes over the next week or so which i am excited about so stay tuned!
Cheers,
RK
